- Who is pole dancing for? Pole dancing is for all women, all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. Although you must be at least 18 years old, I have taught women who were nearly 70 years old! The women in the classes are from a wide range of professions, backgrounds, and fitness levels. From moms, waitresses, doctors, teachers, you name it. The parties are great for bachelorettes, birthdays, moms' night out, any reason to have a fun girls' night out.
- Do we strip? Absolutely not! This is a fitness dance class that is run like any other group fitness class you may have taken. Some of the moves are sensual by nature, but you have the choice to make them more or less sensual to suit your comfort level.
- What are the benefits? Pole dancing is good for your mind and body. You will see and feel both physical and mental benefits. You will gain physical strength and flexibility, tone your body, as well as build confidence and inner strength. You will build relationships with other women and improve your relationship with your significant other too!
- Are there spectators? NO!! This is a private studio, there are never any spectators.
- What should I wear? You will want to wear workout type clothes, things you can move in, but feel good in. It is best not to wear baggy clothes because you will not be able to see your body move, and they tend to get in the way with some of the moves. You will want to wear biker, booty, or boy shorts so you will have a better grip with your legs on the pole. We will do everything in tennis shoes or barefoot first, and you may add sexy shoes later if you want to. DO NOT WEAR JEWELRY OR LOTION!!
- How does the class run? Everyone will warm-up with basic fitness/dance moves on and off the pole, followed by strengthening exercises. We will learn a multi-level routine with every class and put it all together in a cardio pole segment, ending with a sexy stretch/floorwork. Everyone will have their own pole, and will perform moves lead by the instructor. It is a very encouraging atmosphere.
- What if I am shy or haven't done this before? Everyone in the class is shy and feels nervous at first, but that quickly goes away. You will feel silly at first, but that too goes away. Majority of the women have never done this before either, so everyone is on the same page. You are given options with the moves, so you can choose what is best for you. You will always be coached through the moves and routines. You are free to move through the levels at your own pace.
- What can I do to improve my strength? You should be doing push-ups, pull-ups, and other upper body exercises. The gripper is great for pole dancing because it builds up the hand and grip strength needed for spinning and climbing. Core exercises are also a must, as you will need a lot of upper body and core strength as you progress through the levels. Body and hip circles are great for the core.
