Who is pole fitness for? Pole fitness is for all women, all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. Although you must be at least 18 years old, we have taught women who were nearly 70 years old! The women in the classes are from a wide range of professions, backgrounds, and fitness levels. From moms, waitresses, doctors, teachers, you name it. The parties are great for bachelorettes, birthdays, moms' night out, any reason to have a fun girls' night out.
Is there a weight limit? Our poles are professional dance poles that are permanently mounted to the ceiling and floor, and so do not have a weight limit. We have had women of all sizes in our classes, and even have had multiple ladies on the poles at one time.
Do we strip? Absolutely not! This is a fitness dance class that is run like any other group fitness class you may have taken. Some of the moves are sensual by nature, but you have the choice to make them more or less sensual to suit your comfort level.
What are the benefits? Pole fitness is incredible for your mind and body. You will see and feel both physical and mental benefits. You will gain physical strength and flexibility, tone your body, as well as build confidence and inner strength. You will learn to accept your curves and love the beautiful creature you are!
Are there spectators? NO!! This is a private studio, there are never any spectators.
What should I wear? You will want to wear workout type clothes, things you can move in, and feel good in. It is best not to wear baggy clothes because you will not be able to see your body move, and they tend to get in the way with some of the moves. You will want to wear shorts so you will have a better grip with your legs on the pole. We will always warm-up, stretch, and strength in tennis shoes or barefeet. In our dance/routine portion of class, you may add heels if you want to. This is totally optional and not required. We also sell FootUndeez or Pirouette shoes in the studio. (Footwear will be discussed on your first class.) PLEASE DO NOT WEAR JEWELRY OR LOTION!!
How does the class run? We will warm-up with basic fitness/dance moves on and off the pole, followed by strengthening exercises. We will learn a routine with every class and put it all together in a cardio segment, ending with a sexy stretch/floor work. Everyone will have their own pole, and will perform moves lead by the instructor. It is a very encouraging atmosphere.
What if I am shy or haven't done this before? This kind of workout is new to everyone, so every lady in the class is shy and feels nervous at first, but that quickly goes away. You may even feel silly at first, but that too goes away. Majority of the women have never done this before, so every one of you are in the same boat. You are given options with the moves, so you can choose what is best for you. You will always be coached through the moves and routines. You are free to move through the levels at your own pace. We do class with the lights low and the disco ball on to help you relax and have fun. Soon you will forget you are even working out!
What can I do to improve my strength? We know that when most women start class, they do not have the strength to lift themselves, and this is why we work on upper body and core strength in every class! You will be amazed at how quickly you gain that strength. Before you know it, you will be climbing the pole!! Outside of class, you should be doing push-ups, pull-ups, and other upper body exercises. The gripper is great for pole because it builds up the hand and grip strength needed for spinning and climbing. Core exercises are also a must, as you will need upper body and core strength as you progress through the levels. Body and hip circles are great for the core.
